SpeechGeek is pleased to announce its HOTtopics line of extemporaneous speaking instructional aides for high school forensic teams. HOTtopics is a subscription-based service that provides weekly practice questions in both United States and International topic areas.

Each Tuesday, 25 United States and 25 International topics are delivered via email to subscribers. These practice questions are a wonderful resource for teams to stay abreast of current events and anticipate the questions they may encounter at the next tournament. Each week’s list contains a bonus “High Five Questions” – the topics you’re most likely to see at the next tournament. In addition to the weekly question set, HOTtopics provides a brief on a topic area of significance. Each week’s brief provides overview, analysis, potential questions, and articles for further reading.

During the months of May and June, subscribers can expect double coverage and additional briefs each week in preparation for Northwestern University’s Extemp Tournament of Champions, NCFL Grand Nationals and the NFL National Tournament.

Subscriptions to SpeechGeek Extemp HOTtopics are available in one, three, six and twelve month packages. The longer you subscribe the cheaper it gets and the more practice your team will get. This is an amazing service because it allows current preparation on Extemp topics rather than practicing old recycled topics!

Extemp HOTtopics by SpeechGeek are edited by Jonathan Carter. Jonathan competed for Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. While at Northwestern Jonathan was a co-founder of the Extemp Tournament of Champions. Jonathan is in his first year as the Extemp coach for Western Kentucky University. Prior to that he was an assistant coach at Illinois State University from 2005-2007 where he coached numerous national finalists. Jonathan has also coached at the University of Texas National Institute of Forensics.
